 January 2019

The school were lucky enough to be visited by Rocktopus, together with the pupils, they wrote a song about the School's key values.

Also during January 2019 the choir enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Young Voices event at Birmingham Genting Arena. Schools from across the Country joined together to learn new songs and dance routines in a fully immersive musical experience. The group spent the day rehearsing then in the evening performing what they'd learnt in a concert featuring artists such as Tony Hadley, Sharlene Hector and Beau Dermott! The children (and Teachers!) had a fantastic day and can't wait to do it again!

Our image gallery will also show a list of some of the exciting events and activities happening at school.

So many children participated at both home and school and whilst we missed the three traditional Sports Days that usually take place at Bellefield this year, everybody adapted well to the challenges. Congratulations to everybody who participated, it was wonderful to have the whole school working together again! Congratulations to Willow class who won the most points and won the Bellefield Sports Day trophy!

Holi Festival 2020!

11 images

On March 10th our whole school celebrated the Hindu Holi Festival, also known as the Festival of Colours. Originally, this festival was celebrated in Northern India, but it is now celebrated all over the world. It marks the beginning of spring and religiously it is a celebration of 'good over evil'. Each class participated in an arts and crafts activity and presented these to the school in Collective Worship. We created Mehndi Hands, Splatter Paint Silhouettes, Cosmic Sun Catchers, Zentangle Elephants, Colourful Maps of India, Fireworks Paintings and Tissue Paper Flowers, which will make a vibrant display board.

Sport Relief 2020!

5 images

The children and staff at Bellefield School have had a fantastic and energetic time raising money for Sport Relief again this year. With the sun shining, the school started the day with a Netball Shoot-Out competition between the Staff and the Year 6 children. After a close encounter, in front of the whole school, the staff won scoring 25 with the Year 6's performing amazing well with a score of 19. The school then took to the track and the whole school completed the Sport Relief Mile! All children were enthusiastic and we were amazed by the commitment of all the children. Special thanks also to the Year 6's who helped lead the event, although I think there will be a few sore legs in the morning! The School Council have raised £240 over the past three weeks selling Sport Relief wristbands and we will update the page shortly with the final totals raised. Thank you to you all for your generosity for this worthy cause.

World Book Week 2020

What a fantastic week! As always it’s been wonderful to see all the children enjoy a range of activities put on by our staff. On Monday, after school, up to 100 children came back to school for ‘Bedtime Stories’ with the staff. All the children were dressed for the occasion and brilliantly behaved. They selected from a range of stories to choose from and enjoyed listening to the stories whilst enjoying a Hot Chocolate in their pyjamas with their favourite teddy! On Wednesday, teachers swapped classes and read their favourite stories. On Thursday, the staff were overwhelmed by ‘Work Book Day’ and all the incredible costumes. Thanks must go to you the parents for making such a big effort with the costumes and you can rest assured, the children had a wonderful day. Tracy Hager who works with Wiltshire Libraries visited in our special ‘World Book Day Assembly’ and entertained the children whilst many received certificates for being the best dressed book characters. We finished the week with a special 'sharing assembly' where the school came to together to share the new things they had learnt in the week.

Dance Festival 2020

On the 13th February 2020, fourteen Year Six pupils were fortunate to participate in the annual West Wiltshire Dance Festival at The Bath Forum. Over 1,000 people watched the children dance to a medley of songs based on 'Our Wonderful World'. The children showed some amazing choreography and technicality when dancing. Fifteen other schools (Primary and Secondary) took part for the final day of the three day festival and Bellefield once again shone. Many thanks to the staff involved, who were instrumental in guiding the group to perform to such a high standard and were incredibly proud of the children. Congratulations to all the pupils involved for all your hard work and dedication, you were amazing!

Nursery Grand Opening 2020

12 images

Our amazing new Nursery building was officially opened during February Half Term and what a fantastic event it was. Our Nursery is an outstanding place for children's early learning where they can grow to be the best they can be in such a practical and stimulating environment. The theme for the afternoon was 'Pirates' and we had the great pleasure of inviting Gemma Hunt from CBeebies who hosts the popular children's programme 'Swashbuckle' to cut the red ribbon and officially open the building. She was friendly and superb with the children and parents who kindly turned up for the afternoon and ensured we all had a memorable time learning catchy songs and fun games. Many Staff and Governors joined us for the special day along with Gary from ‘CabinCo’ who created the construction. We would like to thank the whole team at Bellefield who have made the Nursery building a reality and I know it will be treasured for years to come. A special thank you must also go to Miss Lillywhite and Mrs Bennett for their vision from the start to bring about our Nursery and to help it run in such a successful way here at Bellefield.

The song was written as part of the ‘Together Project’ in which school children from Britain and Germany were asked to song write to remember lives lost during both World War 1 and 2 and to promote hope and unity for the future. In November eight Year 6 children collected their prize and performed at a ceremony at the British Embassy in Berlin.
