Trowbridge YP Sleep Out
Four Year 5 and Year 6 pupils (along with Mr Rees!) are spending 14 hours sleeping in Trowbridge Town Hall to raise awareness for the homeless. The Trowbridge Youth Parliament, which has two pupils from every school in the town, came up with the idea in September and have since teamed up with the charity Alabaré to raise awareness of issue.
Alabaré's Homes, Drop In Centres and Training Facilities provide training and support to homeless and vulnerable people. Alabaré provides support in Trowbridge and Wiltshire to those in need.
Did you know that 726 homeless people died last year?*
Together, we can end homelessness.
*Estimated figure Office of National Statistics October 2019
The children will be expected to lie on cardboard and sleep in their own clothes with only blankets for warmth and experience a night without any home comforts. They have already conducted an assembly to the whole school and are showing an excellent commitment to take part in this worthy event along with 13 other schools.
