Bellefield Curriculum Overview

Computing

Children live in a fast-changing technological world. Computing provides the opportunity to enable them to develop the attitudes, skills and sensibilities to use computational thinking and creativity that in turn can be applied to real life situations. At Bellefield we feel that with technology continuously and rapidly evolving it is important that computing is a fundamental skill that prepares children to live in a world where technology is embedded in everything we do. We ensure children are able to participate in the creation of technology that doesn’t even exist yet and to fully grasp the relevance of and the possibilities of emerging technologies in the world of work.

By the end of key stage 2, our children will have:

  • Competence in coding for a variety of practical and inventive purposes, including the application of ideas within other subjects.
  • The ability to connect with others safely and respectfully, understanding the need to act within the law and with moral and ethical integrity.
  • An understanding of the connected nature of devices.
  • The ability to communicate ideas well by using applications and devices throughout the curriculum.
  • The ability to collect, organise and manipulate data effectively.
